~When my mom said she wanted me to go to the Ohio Dyslexia Correction Center,
I
thought it was dumb. I thought it would be like the other places I’ve
gone for
help and I didn’t think it would help. I decided just to go and try
it. When I
got to “dyslexia camp”, I talked to Lisa. I started to understand
myself more
because I didn’t really know much about what being dyslexic meant. When
I
started doing the different things (Davis tools) everything started to make
sense. I left “dyslexia camp” with a better understanding. I saw
that being
dyslexic wasn’t just about reading it affects many things in life. I
worked on
the different exercises and started doing really well in school. I am now
on
the honor roll and I have decided to go into the Air Force this summer. The
Davis Program has helped, me a lot in school and other areas of life that
were
hard before. I think this has brought up my self-esteem a lot. I know that
I’m
not stupid. I just learn differently. I am glad that I decided to try it
because this program was a lot different from any other place I have been
to for
help.

~I always felt different when it came to the way I learned; reading and keeping
focus was always a challenge. Since I decided to return to graduate school,
I
was nervous that I would struggle too much. Thanks to the Davis program, I
have
been given the necessary tools and confidence to understand my gift and use
it
to excel. I see my studies, as well as the world around me, in a new light,
a
confident light.

~Lisa, More good news. At the mid-term report, he had all F’s and a
D in math.
It is report card week (4 weeks later) and his grades are all C’s and
a B- in
math. His teacher is confident if he keeps up this pace he will have all A’s
and B’s on the next quarter report card. Unfortunately, she had to include
all
the F’s from the first four weeks in with all the A’s he has gotten
recently to
get the C averages. Also, he got the schools Star Student Award this month
for
excellent behavior. His teacher said it has opened her eyes to not be so quick
to think a child just needs medication! I am very proud of how hard he is
working every day and I think he is less afraid to use his (Davis) tools,
because he sees they are working.

~The Davis program has given our daughter the tools to help improve her reading,
but more importantly, she has developed a lot more self-confidence. Her senior
year grades so far have placed her on the honor roll each quarter –
something
she had never been able to achieve before! Seeing her success now is a joy
as a
parent. She told her teachers and peers about being dyslexic and the program
she attended. That speaks volumes about how confident she feels since becoming
involved in the Davis program. She recently took the ASVAB and obtained a
very
high score. I know she will probably face some additional struggles from time
to time, but now with the program’s training she has the tools she needs
to
help. Even better, she has a confident outlook on life.

~Adam is doing well. I even sometimes wonder if he still needs to be in LD!
Thanks again.

~Just thought I’d update you on our progress so far. I saw an improvement
in
her use of punctuation in particular. She used to just ignore all punctuation
marks. However, yesterday she was meticulous about their use whether she was
reading or writing. She used sweep-sweep-spell on her own, and frequently
checked her orientation point. We did everything we were supposed to, including
the koosh balls and new trigger words. Her penmanship was very nice compared
to
what she had been doing, and today she wrote a great poem about soccer in
just a
few minutes.

~Thank you for what you did for my son. He loved the week he spent with you and talks about wanting to do it again. The progress he has made with his new found tools is amazing. I can't believe what one week can do. All of his teachers are amazed as well. M.D.
~I started the Davis program during my senior year
of college. As a studio art major, it is important to me to use my dyslexic
gifts, but at the same time learn in a traditional classroom setting more
efficiently. At first I worried about the time commitment, but I found that
with my new Davis tools I was able to study in less time and attain better
grades! The techniques have even helped me learn a new language. It was definitely
worth the investment.- N.M.
